IN a world where security is paramount, it is little wonder these five Information and Technology Honours graduates have scored themselves top jobs in the corporate sector.
Ben Renegar, Dane Hamilton, Angelo Friggieri, Matthew Sirotich and Raymond Koppe completed their theses on various technological security problems ranging from e-passport security to in-car GPS navigation systems and now have jobs with some of the most prestigious companies in the country."Technology these days has made it easier to steal - you no longer have to go into a branch to rob a bank, you can do it online," Mr Sirotich said.Mr Friggieri said the group's expertise would be utilised in security fields as diverse as border security, fraud investigation and illegal imports. They credit their success to their supervisor, Dr Katrina Michael, an expert in national security and "Uberveillance", or exaggerated surveillance."Katrina's research fitted all our interests in different ways, like I was interested in law and computer technology and her research really interested me," Mr Friggieri said.Mr Hamilton said Dr Michael was an inspiration. "Her teaching style really engages and motivates you," he said.
